A RICH HISTORY

150 Years of Smiles

With a history that stretches back more than 150 years to its days as a coaching inn for the Eggesford Estate and the Earl of Portsmouth to its later function as a fishing lodge for salmon anglers in the early 1900s, the hotel has a rich history in the local area. Today our 22 bedroom hotel serves as a country getaway for travellers who appreciate the peace and tranquillity of the Devon countryside.

A DOG FRIENDLY HOTEL IN DEVON

We Love Dogs

The hotel has a reputation for being one of the most dog friendly hotels in Devon. Well behaved dogs are allowed in all areas of the hotel with the exception of a few guest rooms.

Fly Fishing

Sitting directly on the River Taw, the hotel’s own Home Beat stretches nearly a mile and we have access to nearly four miles of rarely fished waters just minutes from the hotel. This year we’ve added another two beats on the nearby River Torridge.
